Obviously closely linked to the Low Impact Buildings challenge but there could be overlap into Ageing Society issues eg. applications to Telehealth. Possibly Sustainable Agriculture in monitoring of glasshouses

  • This document is a reference summary of the overarching themes being worked on in the first drafts of the various business plans in Oct 2010. They are expected to evolve and grow as we develop the themes and grow our research clusters over time

Environmental Technologies as a Grand Challenge cross cutting theme has taken a bit of a back seat so far but we are now starting to work on a framework to build it around.
A key idea is to work with Coventry Council on the concept of putting the City forward as a European Living Lab for Low Carbon Technologies. This would define a framework of physical locations for new things to be tried and be a strategic move for the University. Projects could then be sought and justified in the area .

The Living Lab concept doesn’t really cost much other than some time to apply but its important to define what low carbon activity it will embrace so that the outside world knows what to engage on. To this end we are proposing to try and hold a Sandpit/Framing meeting in Jan to try to align the Councils view with the concept.
